Through our experiences, we realized that many products had shortcomings, and we wanted to create gear that would take care of those issues while remaining at a reasonable price point. The Minimalist - Aluminum Clamshell Roof Top Tent
Boasting one of the slimmest profiles of all rooftop tent designs, this tent offers users a variety of features! The tent is equipped with "T" channels along the entire perimeter to allow endless possibilities for attaching of accessories. We have designed an integrated front hinge system that ties the entire structure of the tent together and offers enhanced strength and reduced flexibility when open in windy conditions. Additionally, we combined the roof rack into the hinge to further tie everything together. No more need for multiple brackets, bits, and pieces - best of all, built in means no extra charge. Furthermore, movable ladder hooks provide flexibility allowing you to decide whether you enter from the rear or either side of the tent.

I love this tent. Finding a good RTT for a family of 4+ is very difficult. But this tent is massive once deployed and is very roomy for a family of 4. We have a baby on the way as well and I have no doubt we will be able to fit our littlest as well. It’s a low enough profile and light enough that it doesn’t affect the drive ability of your vehicle anymore then a standard roof top tent. Great great tent!
Super easy to set up and take down. Just unzip and swing the arms out. The led light on the inside is a nice feature and they give you a top/cap for that extra windbreak/privacy. The logo isn’t obnoxious and you can’t go wrong with black. Overall really happy with this thing. I will be a repeat Terra Firma customer
After years of RTT testing I think we’ve found THE one! The Summit Duo has really been put to the test and proven its strength through it all.
Through tropical storms with wind gusts of 50+ to unexpected hot summer nights out west, this tent has proven its worth. The memory foam mattress inside gives us ultimate comfort to ensure a good nights sleep. The aluminum tubing on the inside ensures durability. My favorite thing about the Summit Duo are the two sky view windows. Nothing beats watching the stars as you fall asleep!
I recommend this one of a kind rooftop tent to anyone wanting to take their comfort on the road to the next level!
Love this awning, I have the 2.5 meter which is perfect for an SUV. It is very easy to setup and each support has a built in light.
Had the awning up for a few days on the beach with some high winds and no issues.
I had a previous shower awning that was very inconvenient to set. This shower take seconds to set up, has an exterior built in light, and a roof/top cover if needed. Works great as a changing room and outhouse as well. Also came with an accessory to hold your shower nozzle with ease.
My wife and I have been traveling the US for many years with over 150k logged miles. We have tried nearly every tent available with countless nights.
Recently we got a Terra Firma tent and hit the road. WOW! The quality and attention to details blows away most RTTs, even those double the cost. The tents are extremely user friendly and seem to just work better than all similar designs.
We have done terrible storms on the beach, snow in the mountains, winds in the west. It takes all the abuse like a champ! While most of our other tents would have stretched out and leaked by now, not this. The quality definitely stands out in the harsh conditions.
10/10 recommend Terra Firma tents to ANYONE in adventure travel. Best RTT investment we have ever made.
My wife and I had spent a few nights camping in our minimalist. It’s a great size for the two of us. We love the built in lights and storage pockets. I am also able to leave our bedding in the tent and close it with no issues.
This past weekend we went to the Outer Banks of NC. I left the tent set up for four days of strong winds coming off the coast. Monday early morning we knew they were predicting some rain, around 5am the bottom fell out. Along with the pouring rain came 50+ mph gusts. We were a little nervous with the truck shaking and the tent flapping. The storm and winds continued for an hour with not a single tear in any of the material or a drop of moisture in the tent. A few friends with us have the soft shell version of these tents and had no issues.
Definitely a believer in the Terra Firma products!
Ordered this shirt the day that they released and it shipped extremely fast. It fits true to size and is very comfortable. It's been through the washing machine and dryer several times and the print still looks and feels new.
I’ve been fortunate to put some serious miles on this tent right out of the gate. I’ve personally logged over 15 nights in the tent, 8 of which were shared with my wife. We’ve used the tent in a variety of late spring/early summer climates ranging from Arizona to a 90+ degree morning trackside in South GA. I can confidently say, The Minimalist does not disappoint.
We’ve enjoyed some of the most comfortable nights on the trail/camping to-date. The tent has stayed cool enough (even in direct sunlight) to sleep-in, especially with the upper vent open. The padding is ample and the tent closes with all of our additional bedding inside effortlessly. On the topic of effort (or lack thereof), within the first few nights of use the we had the set-up/pack-out of this tent down to 2 minutes or less. In terms of “disagreement” mitigation at camp, the tent has payed for itself tenfold lol. Furthermore, I’ve had zero issues with water intrusion after putting the seals to the test through a torrential TX rainstorm, damp creekside camping in TN, and frequent washing. The build quality has stood up to extremes (all the hard-lines/tree limb “trimming” etc.), as I’m not easy on anything I own: especially my rig. Additionally, the dimensions are perfect. I’ve always preferred the “Slick-Top” aesthetic, so I was extremely nervous to fit a RTT. Boy, was I blown away with how sharp this tent looks mounted; it fits the roofline of my Land Cruiser with intention. My wife and I have enjoyed this tent so much we’re already planning to add a Terra Firma RTT to her LX470.
After 15 nights in The Minimalist I have zero complaints to report. Well, aside from having to air down the 37”s a pinch to clear our poorly configured garage door 😂
In short, it may be dubbed “The Minimalist” but our experience has left nothing to be desired!
I purchased the 2 meter awning for my Toyota Tundra. The installation was easy and mounted directly to my rack. There was enough room for my Skycamper Mini to open and not contact the awning. The supplied poles are easy to install/remove during set up and take down. The lighting that is part of the awing works great and provides plenty of light for night camping.
This past weekend I was able to use the tent for the first time and this is my initial review.
The name Minimalist is perfect for it. It’s truly everything I need and nothing that I don’t. It took 30 minutes of hard rain one morning and not a drop of moisture inside—we even had the window under the canopy fully open. It’s easy to open and close, just like you would expect from any hard shell RTT. Tons of accessories included. Attention to detail. I love the interior pockets and the ladder is the best I’ve seen. My only complaint so far is the lack of insulation so it can get a little toasty inside. I plan to add a thin layer of insulation and that should solve the problem.
